Leon Lopata - Architect

Leon Lopata is a registered architect and interior designer who graduated from RMIT in 1995. Since graduation Leon has worked for a number of prestigious Melbourne architectural firms including Bates Smart and McGauran Giannini Soon. During this time Leon built up his skills and experience by undertaking an array of Commercial, Residential and Retail projects.
In February 2013 Leon established Leon Lopata Architects and since then has specialised in Residential and Retail Interior Design and Architectural projects. In addition to this, Leon has developed an expertise and professional interest in mid-century (1950's,60's and 70's) domestic and commercial architecture. In April this year Leon authored an article published in the PRW magazine that discusses the beauty and importance of mid-century buildings in Melbourne.
Leon’s architectural and interior design projects have been widely published. A Residential project in Airey’s Inlet, Victoria was featured in ‘Houses’ Magazine ( Issue 40, On the Ocean Road pp90-95) and again in the book ‘100 Top Houses from Down Under’ (Images Publishing Edited by Robyn Beaver, Airey’s House pp13-15). Also a Commercial office fit-out project for the market research company The Leading Edge was published in ‘Artichoke’ magazine (Issue 12 pp63-64). In addition to this, Leon’s architectural work has featured in international design publications such as the Japanese Nagoya Design Competition catalogue.
Leon has an interest in new building technologies and is keen to undertake projects of all scales including new buildings and refurbishments..
